#Beebeep scam free
camera powered on and lens extended all the way but when powered off would not retract,I went and googled for solutions tried to tap it upside down to free any dust, then used canned air,no use. My A95 which has worked problem free for 6 years suddenly had an E18 error. Canon's definitely take better pictures and are the number one pick in point and shoot cameras for a reason. So yes this bites and even more so on Thanksgiving but from experience I can tell you I had two lens errors on the Sony and this is my first on a Canon since it was dropped. In fact, from reading the boards and blogs all over the net, the Canons seem to be more reliable. My point is, I've read it's all of the brands and not just Canon. The Canon takes better pictures than any camera I've owned so I'm going to have this one repaired too. The Sony's were repaired and my daughter still has one of the Sony's and my wife and I use the other Sony as a spare. I remember when the Sony's broke, the place that repaired them said that all of the brands do this. This morning I took my Canon out which is three weeks old and it fell out of my hand, hit the tile floor and bam, the lens error. I hadn't done anything that would have caused the problem. I had two Sony's that both did the same exact thing. Not sure if I will buy a 300HS or just use my old Sony camera. I will probably try out the SD1400IS for a week and return it. I also saw new ones on eBay for as little as $129. I should have searched for alternatives as I later found that the Elph 300 HS is a better camera and sells new for $150 with free shipping and no tax.

I agreed and made the order and they said I had 14 days to return it if I changed my mind. I was told that for $109.99 I could buy a refurbished SD1400IS with a free leather case and 2GB memory card included. They said I could trade it in under their Customer Loyalty Program and transferred me to their online store. I called Canon and they quoted $109 for the repair. I put it back together and it is now a paperweight. I disassembled the front and rear cases but was not sure what to do since the lens assembly is buried in the middle. Since then I have been unable to get it to extend despite tapping or trying to pull with my fingernail under the lens cover edge. Then when the lens was about 1/8 inch extended, I pushed it to close the lens all the way. I tapped it and got it to work a few times. I was able to take several shots then the lens started getting stuck halfway when powering on or off. The picture was blurry until I messed with the zoom control. I got a Canon SD96OIS on Thanksgiving that was partially working. The box might have gotten dropped before you bought it. C'mon, this is Canon which is miles ahead of Sony and that shouldn't happen. I read that there was a bunch of Sony customers who would have that problem right out of the box. If it doesn't work right out of the box, that is ridiculous. If they tell you to send it in for warranty, do not accept that as a response. Again on that S100, take it back and get them to exchange it. I will probably send it off to be serviced from day one. I'm planning on buying a new Powershot in April when it comes out. It's funny that worked on by a technician and not under mass production, they seem to be more reliable and perform better all around. Makes you wonder how these are built with the mass production of these products. The few that I have had serviced have never acted up ever.

Take it back to the store and have them exchange it for another one.įor some reason my cameras that have never been serviced but just bought at retail seem to have this problem eventually. On the S100 that someone just bought and got a lens error out of the box, well that's ridiculous.
