The story is very bare-bones with the same sort of note or audio log of "something strange is happening, let's meet at. The only loot of note are weapons, weapon mods, and rare ammo. You have to wonder what it is they thought would motivate the player to keep going. The starting area is a peninsula formed of 3 small land masses and by the time I left it I'd obtained most of the weapons and seen 5 of the 6 robot types, and it's a fraction of the size of the main map. There is a kernel of a good game here but it needs an extra year at least that I don't think it's going to get. Good to hear they are addressing the bugs, I really want to see what they do with the DLC. Take out as many as you can before they recover with your sniper, then switch to your assault rifle and take out the rest as they approach.Įxtremely impressed so far. Then three dog robots show up, throw out an EMP and run to cover. Then run in with your assault rifle and finish it off. Take out a heavy's rear tank with a sniper shot, then toss a flare off to your left to distract it. You need to use every tool at your disposal. It's almost like a hunting game, but all the animals are robots that want to kill you. It is all about stealth, taking a shot and repositioning. I'm playing solo, and find it to be totally playable. These look like real places, and there are tons of little out of the way things you can find. Other than the cut and paste houses, every other aspect of the world design is so good. The lighting, weather, and time of day is best in class. The explosions on the robots are really well done, especially at night.Īnd the atmosphere is phenomenal. Great feel, super impactful and the differences in guns is very noticeable. However, the gunplay is absolutely fantastic.

It is buggy, and the copy paste houses are a bit of a bummer. I have been playing this non stop since I picked it up for $25 on GMG.

It also seems like all the perks on clothing are currently broken.

Don't horde them, you'll find millions of them through looting. Use flares constantly to distract robots. This is also by far the most annoying part of the game, even moreso than the copy-pasted houses.

The gun itself can hold a full stack of ammo. The gun will still use the ammo, but it will take up an inventory slot. If you pick up ammo, it won't be put "into" the gun that is currently using that type. You want to have a lot of inventory space. Unlock the inventory perks as soon as possible. If an enemy is nearby, crouch walk, or stay stationary for them to lose aggro. This points you in the direction of a safe house you haven't discovered.Įnemies can hear you as well as see you. Keep an eye on your compass for a "house" icon. They almost always have ammo and equipment. Instead, loot garages, wood sheds and cars. The only reason you need to go into houses is for missions which will show a HUD element over them if they have a mission. They rarely have anything good in them, and they are a pain in the ass to run through. Here's some non-spoiling tips I've figured out from hours of play:ĭon't bother looting houses. It's not some 20 000 peep backwater town. It houses a good fifth of Sweden's entire population once you count the greater metropolitan area and state borders. Though, that could be her art classes *shrugs*Īs a sidenote, I hate how every foreign media outlet refers to Stockholm as "town". Like, even my wife who has not really involved herself in the Stålenhag hype looked at the images he has made and Gen 0 and went. I know I would have looked at the game with "Oh, interesting" rather that. And I think it could have been handled better. That Avalanche, at that very same moment in time had an idea for a game that is so close and about such a very specific topic? (80's Sweden, but with robots and dystopia) No, I don't buy that. Rpg fans, tabletoppers, videogamers etc.People were really praising his stuff. Stålenhags art really became big a few years back here in Sweden, in the gaming community. I think they're lying through their teeths.
